SAFETY STUDIES

EYES AND FACE PROTECTION

Light can bounce and reflect off a myraid of surface, such as water, snow and the road, When normal rays of light bounce off any reflective surface, they become disorganised and produce glare. The glare produced by the sun’s rays can reduce your colour and depth perception and cause strain to the eye.

A REMINDER ABOUT OPTICS

Wavelengths

Wavelengths are the basis of how we perceive the world. Two organs receive these wavelengths : the eyes receive light and the ears receive sound.

Welding is rated as the # 1 cause for eye injuries.

More than three times more injuries occur in welding, when compared with the construction industry.

UV light has the potential of causing “Welder Flash” or “arc eye” with welding torches being a common source. The flash burns welders may experience are essentially like sunburn in the eye. For this very reason, welder’s filter lens must meet the test for transmission of radiant energy. Goggles or other suitable eye protection should be won during all gas welding and oxygen cutting operations.

Safety filter shade lenses protect againt ultraviolet and infrared radiation that is generated when working with molten metal and in welding, cutting, soldering, and brazing operations,.Since welding generate some bright light, we know light transmission is an important topic.
